WheatCAP Scientific Advisory Board

Yufeng Ge is an Associate Professor and Advanced Sensing Systems Engineer, and is currently the Director of the Plant Phenomics Core Facility at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is an expert in unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and high-throughput phenotyping (HTP) platforms and will provide advice for WheatCAP UAS-HTP activities (section D.2., Objective 2)

Edward S. Buckler is a Research Geneticist at the USDA-ARS and an Adjunct Professor of Plant Breeding and Genetics at Cornell University.  He developed statistical genetics approaches for associating natural genetic variation with trait variation and is currently focused on developing genomic, statistical, bioinformatic, and germplasm resources to scan plant genomes for functional polymorphisms. He will provide advice for WheatCAP activities described in sections D.1. and D.4. (Objectives 1 and 4).

Susanne Dreisigacker is the head of the wheat molecular breeding at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). She works to discover and validate molecular markers associated to valuable traits, and in the implementation of more efficient marker platforms for breeding. She brings to the SAB her understanding and experience in marker platforms and her knowledge of CIMMYT resources and needs, which will be helpful to coordinate the WheatCAP-CIMMYT collaboration.

Cristobal Uauy is a Group Leader of the Designing Future Wheat (DFW) program and a researcher at the John Innes institute in the U. K. He is a recognized world expert on wheat genetics and genomics and their applications to wheat improvement. He brings to the SAB a deep understanding of wheat functional genomics and knowledge of the wheat genetic and genomic resources in the U.K. which will be helpful to coordinate the WheatCAP-DFW collaboration.

Dave Bubeck is a Research Director for Global Breeding Services in Plant Breeding for Corteva Agriscience. He oversees global plant pathology, global germplasm intellectual property protection, quality management system implementation, as well as regulatory/compliance/stewardship issues for the Corteva plant breeding organization. Dave also is the current President of the National Association of Plant Breeders brining to the SAB a good understanding of the resources and needs of the private breeding sector.
